Can anybody help, my daughter who is twelve is doin her first ODE in august, her pony is quite forward goin and is ridden in a three ring gag obviously no good for the dressage part, can anybody advise me on what bit we could use, what type of snaffle, whether a hanging cheek we could try or any other type of snaffle with brake power, I know this could be trial and error and with help from her instructor, we hope they could do a half decent dressage test.

Go with a hanging cheek or use something thinner with a flash on tightlyif BD rules. My event mare is an absolute nightmare in a snaffle but for BE you can use a grackle so perhaps check with organisers that they are using BE rules and try one of them?

My girl is usually ridden in a dutch gag and I tried her in a hanging cheek but I found she leant on it. I now have her in a loose ring french link snaffle with quite a thin mouthpiece for dressage and she goes much better in that. A hanging cheek is definitely worth a try though.
