I have used big cowboy spurs before when I was up at my ex-gf's ranch - the horse probably felt less of them than if I had my english saddle/spurs on.

Oh, they're Argie! Actually you see quite alot of them about still for exhibitions, but they're purely for show (I've yet to see a horse with hurt sides from spurs) In fact, the points are so close together that they're not as bad as first seem...
Still, they ARE scary looking!!

I have to say, my first reaction was horror, then beauty at the work in them, I think they would look lovely on display!!
