Posting here rather than East Mids or Tackroom as I'm looking for some specialised dressage lessons rather than a typical riding school environment.
I've recently retired my girl who I competed BD to novice level but schooled at home at elementary. I've been trained by the same person (GP rider/trainer) for the last 10 yrs so pretty well established in our way of working together. would really love to continue training with them but unfortunately there's no horse I can train on at their yard.
I've had a bit of time off so not overly fit but desperately need to get my butt back into the saddle.
I'd really like to keep my body and brain in dressage mode so am looking for somewhere I can get some decent tuition, not just going round in 20m circles in walk trot and canter for an hour or hacking out.
Can anyone recommend anyone/ anywhere in or around Northampton that would fit the bill?

Does she do private lessons on school horses? Website isn't really clear as it just says they group riders based on experience so not sure it's what I'm looking for.

I know Jenny teaches clients who take their own horses to Brampton, so not sure whether you can use a school horse for that? I don't think she teaches later than 4pm and weekdays only, so if you work full time it's not very helpful!

There are other instructors at Brampton who should be able to help you. I've heard good things about Sarah and Cameron?

Other than Brampton I think you may have to venture out of Northants as there isn't that much available!!

Thanks Sneedy, I work full time and commute 50 miles each way so weekdays are not possible.

Any suggestions outside of Northamptonshire but not too far as I don't want to take up too much of the weekend for an hour on a horse

Have heard really really good things about Caroline at El Diva / XP equestrian near Salcey Forest - classical dressage on spanish horses. Not so easy to find online but I know some people on here have been for schoolmaster lessons there, so if you do a search for El Diva on here you should find something!

Will have a ponder!

Witham Villa do lessons, not that far from J20 of M1...... They did have an adv schoolmaster a couple of yrs ago, Verity Saul does a lot of BD and is the proprietor (I think!!!).

Caroline is supposed to be good, I suppose it depends if you want to ride Spanish horses??!

Not sure if Spanish would be my thing, I've mostly ridden TBs for the last 20 years or so.
Witham Villa could be a possible for after work as I could do a slight detour on way home, I have competed there in the past but forgot it was also a riding school

Does anyone know roughly how much Caroline charges.
Witham Villa is an eye watering £52 per hour plus the cost of getting there almost making me think buying another horse would be the long term option

Not sure if Spanish would be my thing, I've mostly ridden TBs for the last 20 years or so.

Ooh give it a go - Spanish had never been on my list but having returned to riding after more than 10 years' break on spanish schoolmasters with a great biomechanics coach... couldn't have asked for better. For super classically-schooled horses who give you a great feeling when you get it right, you will definitely get something out of it.

I can recommend Cameron and Sarah at Brampton very highly, well schooled horses, not your typical plod arounds and give you a really good feel and lateral movements.
They have a great cafe now too :)
Would always go back to them!

On a side note, would love the details of Caroline near Salcey too

Give east lodge farm a call if your struggling, I've been to dressage clinics there on some very nice horses (they used to have nice livery horses they could put you on if you were a good rider)

If not there I'm sure they will point you in the right direction

I don't think Caroline is teaching any more - I had a lesson with her 18 months ago and tried to go back 6 months ago but got no response whatsoever. The lesson I had was great, did piaffe :D Really concentrated on my position and getting me straight on the lunge. No mean feat as I'm as wonky as they come.
