Hello

Does anyone know of any places near Vienna that do one-off advanced dressage lessons?? I can only find ones that do 3-5 day courses and I think I may be shot if I suggested the majority of our holiday is taken up with riding :)

Alternatively places near Jerez??

My parents, as a 30th birthday present are 'sending' me to go and see the Spanish Riding School at either and I thought I'd try and combine it with a lesson/ride too :)

Thank you

Firstly, they are two very different "riding schools". The Real Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre is not the same as the Spanish Riding School of Vienna. I would recommend choosing which place you want to go to first.

Epona Equestrian Centre is great. You can have lessons with Rafael Soto if you time it right too. However, it is not in Jerez. It is closer to Seville. It's over an hour's drive from Jerez but is the best place in the area IMO.

Alcantara Centro Ecuestre isn't too far from the centre of Jerez. It's average. Nothing to shout about but nice horses and fairly standard instruction. No idea how good their English is though.

Thank you for this. I did look at Epona and it does look lovely but only appears to do lessons as a holiday/course rather than just a one off! I'll keep hunting and finally decide eventually :)

I've ridden at Alcantara, high standard of English but only good if you want to ride bullfighters. You can ride and have lessons at the Royal School in Jerez, PM me and I'll give you the details.

If you email or phone Epona I believe they do do individual lessons.

The Royal School does do lessons, but they are normally courses rather than a single lesson. It's not that often they will do a single lesson, but they do on occasion in quiet times.
