In a test when it says....

'show some medium trot strides' how many working trot strides would you expect to see before and after? is it the same for medium canter ?

'change the rein with a change of leg through trot over x' how many trot strides are acceptable at x ?

'change the rein and progressively show some medium strides' does this mean you will be marked down if the transition from Working Trot to Medium trot is too defined?

Thank you. :)

4-6 medium strides, and yes I would say so. If the horse is able to go medium marker to marker then do so.

3-4 so it doesn't look rushed

I wouldnt have thought so :)

Thank you. :)

Answers are how I would do the movements in a novice test :)

Thank you :)
So, when you progressively show some medium trot strides... are you expected to be progressive in the downward transition back to Working trot?

Having written at the weekend, the judge was marking down those that did not show a definate trans back to working from medium, in both trot and canter.

i agree with cambridgeparamour.

And yes you can be progress back to working trot. I would go for quality of movement over quantity. So maybe show less but get it right rather than trying to medium work the full length between the markers and pushing the horse too far as to lose balance.
