Hi all

Need some help on E50.

1. CHB Change rein medium walk followed by BK Change rein in free walk so my question is do I have to go straight at B for a stride or two or ride a slight curve?

2. At the end of the test, working canter on 20 m circle allow the horse to stretch, retake reins before E, so how long to I let her stretch and how much stretch

Sorry to be thick but new to level and have not done either?

You do a change of bend on the first movement. Not sure about the second...?!!

For the walk i aim to have my horse slightly on the track before B so that he walks for one step , ie my shoulder is at the marker as i depart for the change of rein. So yes i suppose it is like a very small curve.
As for the stretch it is from once you are on the circle, usually before you cross the centerline for the first time to after you cross the centerline the second time [to the pick up just before the end of the circle at E], so for about 3/4's of the circle. Make sure he stays in connection that he takes the rein down and forward and that he keeps the bend and rhythm.

Thank you for the reply, we managed a 61. something it all seemed to come up very very quick, was over the moon as it was only our 3rd ever Elem.

Good for you. Yes it comes up really quick especially the simple changes !!! You must be very encouraged by that result. Obviously you need to keep on at this level asgetting over 60 in this test suggests you are more than ready for the challenge!!
