Right Rein

A Half circle right 20m
X Changing of leg through trot
XC Half Circle left 20m

How many strides of trot would the judge want to see? Is it the fewer the better or do they want to see maybe 2 strides before you strike off into the left canter?

I think they probably want to see a nice balanced down transition, steady trot, and a nice balanced up transition. I would say 2-4 strides. As a judge I would not want to see a down, then someone hurrying their horse up again without taking the time to change the bend and balance themselves.

Thankyou that is what i will do (well try to do).

BFG, I definitely agree that the quality of the transitions is more important than the number of strides. If you can do a good downward, balanced trot and good upward in a couple of strides then great but, if not, get the transitions, bend, balance etc correct!

Thanks he is very good at it and would do it in one stride but i think if i give him an extra couple of strides it would all be that bit more balanced.

Thanks everyone.
