Competed for the first time since 2010 yesterday (was just too busy last year!!) on my mum's ISH.
We did two Prelim tests ( both which were UK Riders Regional Qualifiers) He warmed up nicely, was a little forward and spooky at times but was containable which is the main thing!
First was Prelim 13, he was quite wobbly and I could tell that we were both a little rusty. He showed his greenness by being a bit spooky and by fidgeting in his halt at the end but he settled down about half way through the test and I think the second half of the test was better than the first half. He did some lovely canter work, and scored an 8 for some of it!
It was commented that he needed to walk out more energetically but his walk actually felt very energetic yesterday - he is just not as big striding as the Warmblood types so I think his walk appears to be slow even when he walking out! Anyway, we scored a respectable 62.5% and although we weren't placed I was pleased as it was a good start considering we haven't competed for quite a while.
Next was Prelim 18. He was altogether a lot more relaxed this time round apart from a little spook at the start and did a lovely test, scoring 65.8% and coming 5th! There was 13 in the class too so he did really well.
Also, it was enough for us to qualify for the UK Riders Regional Finals in July!
So I'm very, very pleased with him and just thought I would share.
