Went to Carlton House Farm today for prelim 16 and novice 28.

Very good day overall... came 2nd in Prelim 16! and Got 60.8% in Novice 28, just a half a percent of a place.

Can you believe it......

...bad news was it wasn't on Jerry

Took Murphy (clients horse) as J had bit of a split on one corner of his mouth. Was Murphy's first dressage outing and I had no idea how he would react tbh. He warmed up well and did a nice test, with only a couple of little errors, wasn't spectacular as didn't push him, but to my surprise we ended in 2nd place

Warmed up for novice 28, and thought I had better find our medium trot

He went in and did a lovely test, did a flying change by mistake coming back to the track, but other than that it was very sweet. Got sheet back and he got 60.8% and was only just outside the placings, as they were all very close. He got 8s for his walk and 7 for his paces, with mostly 7s for all the trot work, just need to work on getting him higher in canter as he tended to drop a bit low, resulting in 6s and the odd 5.

Overall for his first time out I am really pleased with him! Mum videoed it so will try and upload it later, also met Timefaulter who took some amazing photos

Shame it wasn't Jerry, but a good day anyway

Well done. Excellent for his first time out. Be plenty of opportunity for Jerry to shine, you did the best thing. Not worth pushing it if he was slightly uncomfy.

Am waiting for the vid now.

Its such a pain, he was amazing on wednesday in my lesson, really thought we could go out today and do a decent test, but now he has this annoying little crack on the corner on his mouth, going to have to attempt hacking in a hackamore tomorrow as darnt give him much time off

Well, even though it wasn't Jerry, still a very big well done

It's nice to just go out and not have to worry how your horse is going to behave

I still say you should send Jerry to boot camp, I think it takes the pressure off you a bit then, it's what we did with Boo, cause I whimped out when he started misbehaving

I bet the Wiegersma's had a right laugh at me but I don't care, it was the making of Boo sending him away

Wow for a first test Murphy was fantastic... so calm and unphased by it all - you must be really pleased.

He's looks very sweet, how old is he and what's his breeding?
