so trundled off yesterday to danescroft for dressage, at home was wet on the ground but a little sprinkling of snow. get near place and the snow starts to appear!! turns out that it has snowed really heavily (friends dad was driving who informed me that all the pubs had got rid of their customers because of the snow!! ) and turn up the road to place and it was pure ice!! not so nice in a lorry really
but luckily her dad was an ex-rallier so he tool it nice and cautiously!!
so find out there that the arena is not actually frozen (?!?) and just has ALOT of snow on top! so told that they were delaying it for 30mins and that they will hold some of the tests in the indoor (only one arena set up in indoor) but we had to warm up in the snow! this was ok and then the cullens brought out their stallion, Glenhill Gold, which was also ok until declan shouted at the horse to "put it away"
and heard him saying that "he will go after that horse if not told off"!! that horse was the one that i was riding!! lol maybe the stallion felt threatned by my hansome boy
so the first test was the eventing 120, which went alright as we got a canter but we got a 4 for our simple change over X
and we decided that nah, we wernt going to listen to me and we would like to stay trotting! eventually got cantering and had to give and retake our reins, which was interesting! lol but our medium trot is improving and we finished on 54% which istnt bad as our class was harshly marked (although fair in my case
) so i *think* that we may have come 6th against all the established 1* horses
but not sure yet.
then did the eventing 101, which we found much easier to do, although this time he REALLY didnt want to canter and we were half way around our circle before he decided to canter!
but we did quite ok in that test as we had 58%. thought that was quite good as at least we were quite consistent! no idea if we were placed, as we left as the frost bite had started to sink in!
although we got some really tasty bacon baps from their cafe - northern ireland people now how tasty they are
cookies for all that read that! lol
