Well today was our 2009 competition debut!!! An outing to unaffiliated dressage!!

Off we went in the freeeezing cold! Hen was very excited about the whole thing and as soon as her plaits started going in this morning she was shaking with excitment!!

At that point I thought it might be a good plan to put a neck strap in just for warming up!!!!

She was fairly sharp and quite tense so I was really pleased to come 2nd in novice test with 69.7% (a certain HHOer judging!) and 4th (admittedly out of 5!) in the elementary. Scored 60.9% as made a few mistakes and tried to rodeo in the medium canter. She managed to just about keep a lid on her excitement despite threatening to spook at everything, but tension just showed in the walk and in the mediums. Overall I was really pleased with her and was great to be out and about again - a good start to 2009!

Makes a change, she normally is looking well in a fat way!! Despite my best efforts throughout the year this time of year is about the only time she doesn't look like a fat pony!!

Yep West Wilts. I'm hoping next time medium canter isn't quite so exciting!

Was she disappointed to just be dressage-ing?!

She seemed happy enough to be out, even just for dressage and she created a bit of her own entertainment anyway!! We have a jumping lesson tomorrow and then we're back to West Wilts showjumping on Friday so the fun stuff will be starting soon!

Apart from the moments when she is pretending to be an unbroken 3 year old, she feels much more grown up now and is doing some really good consistent work and is starting to take the weight behind more now and actually engage properly. There were no comments about being on the forehand today!

Well done she looks really well

Its always an interesting time taking them out after a break ive just taken Dexter out after 7mths without a show and he has been a loony! Cant wait for March to come around!!

She looks very happy!

Mediums are fun here too. Actually I think all my canters are medium canters at the moment, and most of them have a buck, head toss and motorbike corner in them somewhere too!
