Took Oskar for his first dressage since June today. He's been off with injury and has been back in full work since Christmas. Anyway, did N25 and N27. When I got on him to warm up he was AWFUL. I honestly thought I would have to withdraw. He was breathing fire and very tense. But I managed to get him to settle and he produced some nice work. First test was N25 indoors. Oskar hasn't been indoors since last time he competed and he found it very spooky. He had some nice moments, but spooked every time he passed A. But he did come back to me, so not all a disaster.

Second test was outside, and much better. We did manage to go exit the boards after our medium canter though

. But he did some really stunning work and I was quite happy. I went HC and left before I got my test sheets so don't know my scores. Not great I'd imagine, but the point of the exercise was to get him out and through some tests without any major tantrums, and we succeeded in that.

Bad news though - he has a swollen hock

. Is totally sound, but its been swollen for a few days, so am getting vet to look at it and do an ultrasound on Monday.

So mega vibes please.

Sounds like he was excited to be back out and competing bless him. Gen was a bit 'waaaaay haaaay' after his long lay off - we got the comment "plenty of energy - bursting out" which made me laugh.

Hope the hock is just a little knock. If he is not lame he should be ok. Let us know how it goes with the vet.

You both look great

Naw, I am pleased you guys had fun at your first event for so long. Giggles at his breathing fire! he is a sausage!
HUGS and VIBES for Osks hock hon.

Vxx

Thanks! Hock is odd. It is down nearly completely now after a day's work and a few hours in the field, but was puffy this morning. I guess if it is going down after work and he is sound on it, its probably a knock or slight sprain. Fingers crossed.

Its soft and quite low down, on the inside. Sort of soft squishy area. Very strange. It seems to get worse when he's standing in and goes away when he's out or worked. Have put magnetic wrap on tonight and will see what vet says on Monday. Grrrr. I've just got him back to competition after so long - I really hope that this isn't anything dreadful. Wavered about taking him out today but he's totally sound and there is no heat. Hope I wouldn't regret it.
