I've had my boy on loan since the end of May - he had just turned 6 the week before I got him, and had really done next to nothing with his owner. He is very different to the TBs I had before, as a cob x type, so I was really unsure when I took him on.....I started out thinking I wanted to event him, but as always with me the flatwork got addictive and I began to realise what a superstar I had :)

When he came he couldn't canter at all in a school, and although he was tremendously willing with a fabulous attitude he clearly had a long way to go. A couple of months ago, inspired by Milliepops' approach and thoughts, I decided to focus on my flatwork training; I have moved to weekly lessons, and am concentrating on really establishing the basics before we try and move on. We had a small blip when he became less willing, which was overcome by a visit from my fabulous physio and lots and lots of pole work, and now we are moving forward again. I am competing once a month simply to see how we are progressing, and today we achieved 2nd place in our Intro B test - frustratingly 1.5 marks short of winning the class! - and got a respectable 63% in Prelim 7 :) :)

We are still only getting 5.5's for our canter so I know we have a lot of work to go, but he is an absolute delight to ride and I just love him....I'm desperately trying to persuade his owner she wants to sell him to me.... but had to share how delighted I am with him and how proud I am that we are improving every time out. No photos from today unfortunately as my other half has a Samsung which refused to focus for the video, but even so I can see some lovely (blurred!) work in the video and am over the moon tonight :)

Thats great, well done :)

Excellent when you can really see the progress and its reflected in your results and always nice to come home with a frilly!

As an aside, was it you who had the ex-racing pony or am i mixing my posters up?

It was indeed me LeannePip - sadly I lost him in April this year, he was lame in his near fore with an arthritic type issue that had clearly been there for a number of years, and a 4* Olympic eventer said he was quite insane even by TB standards :( I was devastated, but then I found Jensen.....!!

Oh i'm sorry. Sorry to her that, i'm pleased you've found another willing partner thought! Best of luck!

:o

Hahaha hadn't seen that coming but whatever it was I said, glad it spurred you on. He's a lovely sort, looks really willing :)

Oh, and congrats on the frilly, great result

What was he wearing Levrier ?

At the moment, his Harry Dabbs jump saddle still! I have a saddle fitter coming out on Friday to check the fit of the dressage saddle, I thought it was better to go for the 'known quantity' for a competition at the moment, but very excited about the prospect being able to ride more effectively :) :)
