Well after 2 weeks of trailing around looking for a saddle I finally tracked one down an hours drive away. It has been a complete nightmare, nothing fitted her. Off me and dad went on friday evening to pick it up. Got back at 7ish and had a quick walk and trot in it to see if it would stay put.

So this morning I got my instructor to check it and kept everything crossed that she would approve.

She did and so my brand new saddle got loaded onto into the box and off we went.
We arrived at frys and the car park was quite muddy and I didnt want to get stuck, found a good spot and parked up. After a bacon butty we got Gin out and warmed her up. She was in feeling quite argumentative and opinionated as she has only been ridden a handful of times in the last week due to me looking for a new saddle. The warm up was very deep and quite wet and it was so windy.

Walked Gin down to the test arena with many spooks on the way

First test was E57, she did a nice test and all her faults were my fault. I really need to prepare for the simple changes better. she just felt as though she needed more oomph!
Had a quick walk round before my next test and had to ask someone about the next test as I forgot it.

Went in to ride E58 and instantly Gin was feeling loads better and wanted to go forwards, sometimes a little too much! Again she did a lovely test but me not preparing for the simple changes let us down. I really wanted to ride the medium canter as I always get the comment 'not enough medium'. She went flying and it really did feel good.

So we came 3rd in both classes

I was over the moon as they were big classes. I knew she was capable of being placed in a smaller class and really wanted to know how she did in a bigger class. She got 63.57 in E57 and 64.04 in E58 which is a really complicated test.
Got back and tucked her up in bed with a large tea.

Next trip out is the regionals in 2 weeks

Its a bit too busy, theres so much to remember! Shes turning into a real star *touches wood* and the elementary tests seem to suit her so much better than the novice.
 
great results! I am onto Elementary now... Gulp... they really test your transitiions dont they??!! Good luck for regionals!! Mine soon too...I think this time I will try and enjoy it rather than panicking.... very hard to do eh?!!
 
I really enjoy riding the elementaries but really need to work on the canter as thats where we lose our marks. Theres more to come so I cant wait until the training kicks in a little more.

Have booked 2 lessons now before the regionals, one of them away from home so my instructor can see what shes like at a strange place. Im getting really excited now, just hoping t doesnt rain.

What class are you doing at the regionals? Good luck, im doing novice restricted.
 
Me too!!! Novice Restricted! Yep, I think I better have a few lessons before hand... gets to be expensive when you near the regionals..got to give up smoking then i could afford more!! Good luck to you too and enjoy! I shall look out for the results.. but I hope you post them and let us know though!

I know what you mean about it getting expensive. Ive already paid out a small fortune for entries and stabling and thats before I add diesel, lessons, food and a new saddle!
Theres so much to do beforehand too.

I hope we get some better weather to dry Fry's up before the regionals - if not its going to be yucky by the time the CDI starts! Its such a shame as I bet its lovely when the sun's shining - the beautifully manicured lawns were saturated yesterday!
 
Well done, I was at Fry's yesterday doing the KC Championship, ended up getting a place in the KC Supreme Champ at the CDI, how scary is that

. Sure my horse will flip with all the spectators and tents are her usually very quiet favorite venue.
 
How did you get on yesterday?
I really hope the car park dries up otherwise there is no way they can use it. Im glad I was there on saturday and not yesterday, although we still ended up filthy.
 
It was the only saddle that fitted her in the slightest. I tried on every single saddle I could get my hands on, some even way out of my price range, and they all just looked funny on her. Its not even as if shes a funny shape!

We were 2nd in P17 with 68.something and got 68.something in N22 but left before the end as we were far too soggy (the rain got progressively heavier during my test!) but I checked the website this morning and we won the restricted - extremely pleased!!!

*sudden lurch in the stomach area* mmm yes, it will be about 5 or 6 oclock on the gala evening with tents, people, sound wiring etc etc with everyone I know watching!. She will probably flip her lid but I have to do it regardless
 
Sounds exciting (but hopefully not too exciting for the horses!) - what happens, do you all have to do a test again? Were the champs on sun one of many?
 
The champs which were on sunday are only held once a year - at all other comps riders get a sliding scale of points and top 30 point holders get invited to compete.

From sundays championship the top three from Nov and Prelim go through to the Supreme Champ at the CDI - I qualified in Nov....was 4th but one of the riders had already qual'ed in prelim so opted to do that so the place dropped down.

Was pretty pleased with my scores though, got 70.21% in prelim and 65.67% (with a crappy test incidently) in nov. There were two judges and both gave me almost exactly the same mark for each test.

Basically three do a prelim test and three a nov and the supreme champion is the one with the highest %. It wont be me because our nov is not established but, although I am terrified at the thought of competing in front of a crowd like that I really appreciate the opportunity so must do it.

If you go watch out for a little girl called Fearn - not normally that bothered about children but she was so cute and really excited and chatty on the day - would be great to see her do well.

It makes sense now - I couldn't work out what would happen since you'd all be placed at a champ anyway! Think I'll be going back to watch on the sat so that's someone else looking out for you! I'm sure your horse won't be the only one freaked out by the atmosphere (and he might just surprise you) and as for you just ignore the crowd - of course you'll be concentrating far too much on your test to notice anyway!

If I can persuade someone to come with me on the saturday I will come support you. At least she will have already seen the scary arena before saturday.

No its Frys year long unaffiliated comp so no qualifications for BD, not started on winters yet.

Would be lovely to see you - come say hi, I'll be the one with the face that matches my white joddies

I was considering going easy on the novices to keep our points down so we could still do prelim but sod it I want to qualify at novice now!!!
 
I was the same when moving up to elementary but now im loving it, Gin also prefers them too.
You must let me know your times so I can come support you too.
