Can anyone recommend a nice make of riding hat for competing dressage (preferably with a flesh coloured leather strap). I have a beagler and have been using it for a while for competing and although I trust my little man to behave when I have started considering that it may be more sensible to compete in a actual hat that would actually protect me if anything WERE to happen. I'd like something black and smart.

what about the jte HC1 or HC2 hat. Very reasonable price or you can always go Charles Owen although I think they are over priced. Champion are a good traditional company as well. I think you need traditional for dressage

yes that's the one I have, I really like it. I don't know if it's me becoming a little more cautious in my old age but I just feel like I should get a proper hat to compete in. Maybe I'm just being paranoid!

I think you get what you pay for with the Charles Owen hats- they are really smart hats- the nicest hat with a harness on the market IMO

I have the champion hat (always have bought champion) it has a lovely flesh harness and looks very smart. The model is the 'Classic'.

I have a Gateshead Hickstead one, I used it for showing and now for dressage. I am a bit strange in that Charles Owen just don't fit me.
