Just wondering what dressage saddle people use for their horses with long flag backs?

I currently ride in a bates VSD which has been fitted to my horse as good as it can be but it still lifts off at the back. I've been told a close contact or event saddle would be good for him as the trees aren't as curved as a gp so am looking at getting one of those for everyday/jumping and a separate dressage saddle. Thanks in advance :)

Bates saddles suit deep backed horses, I have one on a horse that is almost sway backed that has one. My flat backed two have KenTaur monoflap, Edgemere do them in UK. They are Eventer II and the back block is right at the bottom rear of the flat so you can ride dressage length very comfortably in it. Ken Taur also do dressage saddles and have sat in one, very deep seat and comfortable so that is next on my shopping list.. Tree twist is narrow but gullet is wide so fits my big chaps very well. Ken Taur widths seem to come up a bit wider than UK ones so it would be worth getting a saddler to do a template to send to them if you are considering one.

I was surprised to see the thorowgood T8 dressage fitted extremely well on my wide andflat backed welsh x clydesdale! They have a cob version with a flatter tree and with the new leather seat and kneerolls I am very happy with mine. Must admit I am not a thorogood fan or one for synthetic saddles but Inhave come round!

I have Kent and masters and its great for the flat backs! Same makers as thorowgood and Fairfax too, so all are great for flat backs and are lovely saddles! X

I use an Albion SLK on my flat backed TB/clydie cross. Also worked very well on the Arabian in my avatar - again a very flat backed horse. And I used an Albion K2 on my smaller part bred Arabian (by the same stallion as my Purebred and the same shape)- the SLK's are quite long saddles.
