5yro TB eventer has started to really progress in her flatwork but as i have a Pessoa at the moment it isn't that comfy with all of the sitting trot!

looking to buy her either a 2nd hand leather or new/2nd hand synthetic dressage saddle.
she is a medium fit has a fair amount of wither but also wel sprung ribs so probably looking for a cut back head.

i like saddles with minimum padding and stuffing (i like Passiers etc and hate Albions).

so any suggestions for leather/synthetic please which tend to fit TB types well?

thank you

My boys are both fairly high withered and they each have Amerigo Deep Seat Dressage saddles, they fit them perfectly- lovely to ride in. Have used Amerigo saddles for years and they are great quality too.

Theres also Passier saddles- have ridden in one with a cut back head- sorry can't remember the exact name of the model- I have also ridden in the Bates Innova saddles but found these to fit a bit low on my horses, as did Ideal and Black Country! hence I stuck with Amerigo! Like you, I really don't get on with Albions!

Ive just brought a Barnsby Luxus for my mainly TB mare, and it fits her a treat. It has a cut back head, and is close contact through the panels. Fantastic saddle for riding in to

My TB has high withers and huge shoulders and I have a Kieffer Kiel which fits him really well. I don't like armchair like saddles with huge knee and thigh roll so it suits me.
The tree is actually heat adjustable but it fitted him as it was. I think it comes out a medium fit but the wider end of the range.
I was really lucky as it was secondhand and hardly used so I got a good deal.

thanks for replies- i have tried Amerigo saddles before and for some reason can't get on with them.
and the Isabell saddle is way too deep for me, i like flatter seats and don't like the 'locked in' feeling some dressage saddles give.

i will look into Kieffer and Barnsby saddles, thank you.

I've got a Thorowgood High wither dressage saddle, does the job (i dont use it all the time), also the new thorowgood saddles arent as deep as they used to be so this should be an advantage for you !

Actually I like my Albion on my high withered well ribbed up lad. However and old Stubben with a cut back head would do the trick.

Just wanted to add I had a physio out to see my horse recently who looked at his shape and said I bet you had trouble getting saddles to fit.
I said my Kieffer fitted him on the standard factory setting ( it has a heat adjustable tree if your horse isn't standard) and she did say the Kieffers were really good on TBs like mine.

She also said Black Countrys (which my GP is) work well.

I realise now how lucky I was because my saddle fitter supplied both for me secondhand.
