Hi :)

I have been riding for the past year or so in a Amerigo Close contact 17.5" which to begin with was gorgeous. But I am only 5ft 1" and the pony is only 14.1hh and my leg has now got a lot deeper and I am starting to feel like I don't have the support in the right places...

So are there any saddles you would recommend for a petite rider? I have been looking at the Cygnet from Martin Wilkinson and the Amerigo Vega but am open for ideas :)

Many thanks x

I imagine that the 17.5 is at least half an inch too big for you, so even going down a seat size or two in the same model may help a lot. Look for something with a very straight cut flap and a decent amount of block towards the top of the flap to support your thigh when you need it - a slightly triangular one may work well.

I have a friend who is well under 5ft and has a butet which she fitted brilliantly (and which funnily enough I think she is now trying to sell as it doesn't fit her current horse well). Although they cost a lot I think she finds them great for her size!

I have a 16.5 inch wintec dressage saddle (think its a pony dressage saddle?) which is nice and fits me and my 14.1 pony well.
