I've got about £200 to spend on a dressage saddle to get me started off, currently riding in my GP but want a posh one lol.

Any suggestions/ideas?
Will try local saddlers Tuesday when they open.

I was looking at http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-german-lord-DR...1QQcmdZViewItem but opinion seems to be its no good

Dont risk buying leather for such little money it will most likely be cheap and nasty and be flocked with bubble gum and cow poo of something nasty ( just kidding but i have seen 2 importet saddle flocked which some very odd things! ).

I had a wintec and it served me well on a budget and sat me in a decent position. I have given it my saddler to sell and ordered a new posh leather saddle.

If a wintec will fit they are not bad for such a small budget as a guide i have asked my saddler to sell if 150 second hand so second hand will be in your budget.

One of the best dressage saddles I have owned (and Ive owned quite a few, Jaguar, Champion, Wow, Frank Baines, Kiefer) has to be the Isabell Werth model made by Wintec. It is top of the synthetic Wintec range but you can pick up a 2nd hand one off e-bay if your lucky. It sits on all shape n size horses, you can change the gullet from narrow to extra wide and sits the rider no matter how novice or experienced in a superb dressage position with the utmost comfort. 3 of my pupils I teach have now changed their old saddles for the Isabell since having a lesson in mine and I have 2 more riders looking out for one. I have a WOW dressage saddle for my young dressage horse but I must say when I get back in the Isabell its like putting on my slippers!! Has that convinced you???

I used Thorowgood Griffins for both of mine when I first bought them years ago and I would rate the Thorowgood higher than the Wintec (I had a Wintec GP version).

The Thorowgood puts you in a good position (and is not extreme like the Isabelle Werth which I found to be slightly off putting as the stirrup bars are set well back) and its very lightweight so good for youngsters (which mine both were). I also think Wintecs really only fit TBs well and a selected number of other horses.

I now fit saddles for The Saddle Company and therefore I would have to say my Saddle Co dressage saddle is the best one I have had so far! But on a budget I would definitely get a Thorowgood.
