Hello
I am after suggestions for a dressage saddle for my rather chunky warmblood.
I know it is a bit of a how long is a bit of string question and everyone will have different views but I just do not know what is out there.
My last horse I had for over 20 years, 1 good GP all his life and that was it (we just didn't have different saddles for different disciplines back then!).
So I guess what I am asking is what saddles are considered good, bad or indifferent.
What I do know is Kieffer and Albion tree's don't suit him, his black country GP is the best fitting saddle he has had since I have owned him (he has grown 2 inches and 3 rug sizes since I have had him so now on his 5th saddle.....) but he is so powerful and big moving now I just cannot continue with the dressage in a GP as it is doing neither of us any favours.
My saddler has said he thinks a Black Country or an Ideal would suit him (he has huge shoulders, is quite broad and does not have a high/pronounced whither) but I don't want to narrow my search too much in case I am missing something that would be perfect for us.
Other problem is it cannot be a monoflap as I need to have the straps adjusted to take a long girth due to previous issues (long story but just not going there with a short girth ever again and saddler agrees best for him).
All suggestions/ideas gratefully received!
Thank you in advance.
