I have quite a wide dressage horse and cant seem to find anything that fits him and is comfortable for me!! He's quite hard to sit on, have tried the Bates Innova in both block sizes & they just didnt work. The Albion SLK Ultima was good for me but quite hard to fit for him. Ideals are out too!! Any ideas? Unless I go for something like the Isabell.........??

Barrie Swaine. i have one of his older styles, the "Madonna", which was made for one of my homebreds, who another saddler had described as "the widest event horse he'd ever fitted." very comfy, fitted horse exactly. (and fwiw i can't cope with a saddle that's wide across the twist, i had a made-to-measure Inch's Xanthus dr saddle years ago that was, and it made my hips ache, most strange.)

my eventer was very wide and we tried literally hundreds of saddles- eventually got a lovely Jaguar that fitted him (and me!) beautifully!
he went really well in it and i found it very easy to ride in, really lovely saddle.

one thing is they are quite heavy so make sure your horse has got a fit, muscled back- mine would fit my just backed 4yro but i think it is too heavy for her at the moment and want her to strengthen up first.

What about the Passier Antares? One of the widest horses in our stables have this one, it fits really well. It's not a saddle with a lot of support, but still very correct support (imo). Puts the rider in a very balanced position.

I've just ordered one, and can't wait!

Tried a Jaguar.....its probably the worst one out of the lot!! Cob saddles not really suitable either, he is a big moving warmblood, I know it works in some cases but not right for him. Can anyone recommend the Bates Isabell, not a saddle i'd usually go for but it might work?? Thanks for your suggestions!
