Been give the opportunity to buy a second hand very good condition ideal jessica saddle.

I gave it a quick go the other day briefly but intend on doing a schooling session in it today to get the full effect and fee for what I am buying. It fits well but obviously won't buy till confirmed by saddler.

Will be my first dressage saddle so very excited but I do love it and from what I saw other day my girl goes lovely in it.

Does anyone else have one of these saddles, what are their thoughts?

We tried one for Topaz and LOVED it, honestly if we could have made it fit then we would have bought it there and then!
But it was just a bit too wide for Topaz and Doodle really really didn't need it... :(
We know have an un-named saddle that is a lot like the jesscia that fits her perfectly, but it's not the same :(.

I personally dont like them, doesnt suit me or my horse and i feel like im sat on top.

My personal pref is close contact, and the saddle I have suits my horse.

As ever horses for courses :D

My saddler brought one, with others, for me to try & I just didn't like the feel if you get me. It just was not for me. I think you just have to try several makes/designs before you part with your hard earned cash. You may thhink you like a saddle until you sit on the one that seems built for ypu.

I used to ride in the Jessica as when I got my boy he was much too big for the saddle I had so the YO lent me one until the saddler came. I loved it and when the saddler came I was adamant I wanted the Jessica, but then he told me about a new ideal dressage saddle the (it was new new out at the time) The Suzannah, I tried that and it was fantastic! I had it made with extra knee rolls and saddle rolls so it would hold me dad in place when he rides (um would kill me if he came off!) it is so comfy! It really supports the lower leg and keep it in the right position which is excellent for me as my left leg doesn't work very well! I could ride for hours with it, I hack out init too-its like being in an armchair!

Last year I tried a Jeffries dressage and an albion SLK and a wow didnt really go mad for any of them.

This saddle is being sold by a fellow livery and I find it lovely to sit in and ride, I find the seat nice and deep and the knew rolls for a new rider in this kind of saddle not to over powering if you like as in my leg sits where it should but isn't forced there by not knocking my balance in my seat allowing me to find my lower leg at my own pace.

Hope that makes sence

I rode in one for about 5 years, only just sold it as no longer fits my horses. I thought it was a great saddle, very good value for money too. An ideal first dressage saddle I'd say as its not too deep and doesn't have huge knee blocks.

Boxcarhorse I agree just got back from trailing it for real, did half hour schooling in it, riding extensions and collections, small circles to larger ones, flying changes and she didnt hold back in any transition so I feel it's fair to say she's happy under it, if it was causing her pain surly she wouldn't change so easierly?

But of course I will still have it checked by the saddler.
