Help! Can anyone pm me or put it on here a copy of this test? Can't find it anywhere on web and our RC isn't affilliated. we need it for Pontispool ODe at end of month. Many thanks!
Be really careful at Pontispool. I did the area trials there last year and the ground was atrocious. I won't go again, I saw a friend over the weekend who was on my team - her horse was off for 8 month last year due to the going at the area trials.
Sorry to be a harbinger of doom!!The course rides really well apart from that!
Sorry don't have the test anymore.
Thanks for the warning, unfortunately entries already gone, so we will look at it the day before and if it's bad not go. You would think with all the money that must pour into there from P C camps etc they would attempt to improve the going wouldn't you? Perhaps we should have chosen Nutwell instead, I wish I had known that now..Many thanks for the advice.
Things may be very different this year. Last year they had well established fences and lines which meant there wasn't much going on grass also you had to go along a lot of farm tracks which were like concrete. They had rotivated but it was ineffective.
the warm up for the SJ was like concrete and again well established it would have helped if it had been moved to fresh pasture.
the time for the XCountry was tight which I felt was unfortunate given the going.
the thing which most annoyed me was when I walked the course, everyone in the group ahead of me had XCountry schooled the fences a couple of days before the event. I thought it was all a bit complacent and slapdash.
I would like to qualify for the finals though and if they change the heights which they are threatening to do then I may have another go. that's a 2 day which of course I am now an expert at!!
We're only going to do the 2'9" although the horses did the bigger course at a HT last year, they did a Team Chase too and won it, but were robbed in the Pairs Class as the timing was said to be slower, and yet they had been round in the TC class and deliberately went quicker the second time...They knew they had gone faster but then that's horses and competitions isn't it! Still can't find this dressage test so may ask the organisers to send me a copy, it isn't a normal one from what I can see. Thanks!
If they did no-one told us...having won the last three Pairs classes they entered they had a better idea than most how fast to go; plus they both agreed to go quicker in the pairs than in the team as they didn't have to wait in the box for four riders to gather. It was one of those times you accept you've been robbed, go home and be happy you have won anything at all,. What a coup it would have been to have won both classes though! Must tell you foals are getting really friendly, am having trouble being mobbed by two every time I enter the field. The secret is to itch them a few visits when they're born, it makes them calm and eager to see you. Have taken the photos now, just need son to upload them (currently in middle of A level exams so daren't ask him...)
I had a mystery 20 time faults at Pontispool at the HT. I wasn't fussed we'd had a bit of a disaster but having gone clear round 3 BE events without time faults I was a bit suprised. A friend is used to having to pull up at the end at BE events as her time is usually too fast, and she had penalties. Hmm .. a bit of a pattern emerging!
Have you got it yet?? If not, I can try scanning in the test and emailing you it. You'd need to pm me with your email though. My scanner wasnt working last week though so might not work, worth a shot though if your desperate as Ive got the test right here!
Any chance I could have a copy as well? I won't be so presumptious as to send you my email right off but if you have managed to scan it in I'm doing the same event (waves to Henryhorn)...
I might be going as well but got to send off entries! Only thing putting me off slightly is day before dressage for the open novice and i think its a bit unfair to chuck her in at the intermediate!!
They have a new SJ allweather workin by the way Siennamum so the only ground issues 'should' be for the XC and that will just depend on the weather now!
I am going - I think the ground will be nearly perfect if weather stays like this. Typical blooming RC though we have 202 members and only 2 who are able and qualified to do intermediate area (me and another) and 1 who is going to give it a go.
For 2'9 you will be going round the intro course of the BE event pretty much. The Intermediate was near identical to the PN that BE ran.
see if you say that its tempting to the intermediate because when we XC schooled there at Easter I unwittingly jumped most of the PN jumps from the first BE event thinking they were Intro and a few of the Novice thinking they were prenovice (we only whisper about the intermediate jump we jumped
)
Either way I better choose fast as will fill up but so torn, I am only 40mins ish away by lorry but still i so don't like day before dressage
