Can those that have orgnaised dressage comps please give me some advice. I am in the middle of organising our 2nd dressage comp

. Its all going well so far with plenty of entries. I had a knowledgable helper when I organsied the last one but I'm on my own this time so how do I go about deciding the times between each person?

Our walk and trot test lasts 4 minutes so I had thought about leaving 6 minutes between each person. Does this sound OK?

Also what about Prelim 10 and Novice 21? They both take about 4 1/2 mins so how long between each person should I leave?

Any advice much appreciated or contact details of someone that will know would be great.

Thanks

I have done a few as fund raising for our riding club and their 'competition guide' book was pretty useful in giving advice about time gaps.

I dont have an up to date copy but you can look at test lengths to work out which it should be but as a guide:

Prelim 4 - 7 mins
Prelim 7 - 6 mins/7mins (alternating)
Prelim 10 - "
Prelim 12 - "
Prelim 16 - "
Prelim 17 - 6 mins
Prelim 18 - 7 mins

Nov 21/23/24/25/32 - 6 and 7
Nov 33 - 8 mins

and so on....give me specific tests if not listed and I will look up

I got an email at the weekend about Walk and Trot tests, riders and judges sheets being free and they will provide rosettes for shows running them which may be worth looking into if you are organising more, saves you a bit on rosettes!

I think they are publishing the results as well but there were not any on when I looked.

British dressage do a sheet which gives you the times that you should leave between competitors and the test time. I would ask them for a copy, if you leave too long between competitors you will lose money.

Hope it all goes well.
