Hi folks, what are the required movements of an elementary dressage to music? Another silly question, do they also have to incorporate the novice level movements or do you have free rein to use the lowere level movements if you want to? thanks in advance!

Here you go:
Medium walk - min 20mtrs
Free walk on,long rein - min 20 mtrs
Working trot with 10m circle - both reins
Medium trot
Leg yield - left and right
15m circle in canter - both reins
Medium canter
Simple changes - left to right and visa versa
Think thats all!

Elementary freestyle required movements are:

medium walk (min. 20m)
Free walk (min 20 m)
working trot left including circle 10m
working trot right including circle 10m
medium trot
leg yield left
leg yield right
circle left in working canter 15m
circle right in working canter 15m
medium canter
simple change both ways.

You can use anything from the Novice tests, however nothing from anything higher than elementary.

Halfstep and sneedy - thanks. William is working at elementary level at home and doing lots of lateral movements, so a novice dtm would bore him to tears. On another issue - he is getting more powerful every week esp in the canter - sometimes it scares me! Is this a natural feeling?

Sounds like my boy!!

I've recently put my DTM together and went for the elem as he's done well at the level so far (not that long!!), I can easily 'bodge' my elem dressage to fit with the novice DTM if required so agree that you're doing it the right way round!!

RE power - I'm going through the same......!!

Glad someone else is the same! Its taken me quite a while to get Will to properly push from behind, esp in transitions and now he does, it feels lovely but scary all at the same time. I guess I just need to learn to go with it and not block the movement!

I always think I should be going 'faster', feels very different to how he used to 'go'.......think he'd have heart failure if i took him eventing again - seems to enjoy struting about!!!
