This is just for fun really- but I would absolutely lovely to be able to do some easy moves on my 6 year old piebald traditional/gypsy cob gelding- he's got fab markings and good looks- I have created/drawn up a test where the hardest movement is free walk on a long rein, working trot & canter. So nothing too difficult- its really just a test of his responsiveness when he comes back into work again this spring. Hes a fairly okay mover but his stride is pretty short and can be choppy and he's quite heavy on his feet- any good music to go with his quirky yet enthusiastic and happy approach?! Please help!... Love abbeyandapache :)

I've done it with mine, I mixed a Matrix track with Mission Impossible theme and it went quite well! Only a very basic test though. If you PM me an email address I'm more than happy to send it to you

Coolio, Thanks for your help everyone- really looking forward to getting him back into fitness and responsiveness this spring ;) will post a vid (my bros got a camera) when ive done it.(successfully with no crashing or bucking- hopefully) But as i said earlier- it may be a while before they are posted up! ;)

Might sound cheesy, but what about traditional Irish music? Different pieces have different beats/melodies etc, I used to play some whilst schooling my trad mare, and it works really well. You should be able to quite easily find something with a quick, bouncy beat to suit his footfalls, and the music would be quite light without being too light (ie cobs, particularly those with heavy feet, can seem a bit odd if paired to say a light rippling piano concerto or something).

Like WildRider's idea! I'm a traditional Irish musician and as such it makes up most of my extensive music collection, so is always on whenever I have the ipod on whilst schooling my boy. Works well, most of the time...

... except when I hear a tune that I like and don't know and get caught up with learning it instead of focussing on what horseface is doing :D

I wrote for a judge recently for DtM and there was a traditional black and white cob and they looked fantastic with Christina Aguilera's Candy Man!!! it suited their trot perfectly and was a super picture altogether!
I'd say, take a video of your horse's paces and put on different tracks while watching the videos, you'll find out which suit his tempo :)

Thanks everyone for your really helpful suggestions, I could possibly do it to some Traditional irish music- but was also thinking of something a weee bit more contemporary too- listened to flo rida "good feeling" the other day & thought that could possibly work too... With his short stride and the fact that his nickname is "Thug"... Hahaha, this is due to his build rather than his nature as he is a sweetie reallly <3 my little boy!
Will do as others said though and tape him then set the music to his movement rather than the other way round, as its then more likely to flow and suit him.
Thanks again, Abbeyandapache
