I'm currently putting together my test for Elem DTM for BD.

What do you need to get to qualify for the music championships? When are the music championships?

Also, DTM always seems to score higher than "normal" dressage - any reason? and how come no points are awarded?

Thanks in advance!

You need to be placed in a qualifier in the top 2 at novice or elementary, top 3 at medium or above, plus get the qualifying score which is 2% above the score for usual qualifiers. If you are elementary restricted that means 66% or higher, open is 68% or higher.
Music qualification runs from January to December. That qualifies you for the winter regional champs the following year i.e. any classes now will be qualifiers for 2015 regionals.
Finals are held at the winter champs.

No points because of the artistic element to the scoring. If you are good artistically it can really pull the scores up particularly if you pull off difficult choreography.

Also,

medium walk (min. 20m)
Free walk (min 20 m)
working trot left including circle 10m
working trot right including circle 10m
medium trot
leg yield left
leg yield right
circle left in working canter 15m
circle right in working canter 15m
medium canter
simple change both ways.

they're all compulsory movements right?

I read somewhere that you can get "bonus" marks for using things like:

counter canter, rein back, stretching in trot/canter and large pirouettes... is this true?

No specific 'bonus marks' per se, but can improve the choreography mark :) I'd only do them if you know your horse does them well though - or they could end up pulling down the harmony mark at the end if things go wrong.

Medium and above has a 'degree of difficulty' mark so you'd obviously get a higher mark for this, but there isn't a DOD mark at elem AFAIK.

You'll also get marks deducted if you do something above the level - so if you did half pass at elem for example, I think it's a 2 mark deduction. Hope this helps!

Yes, have to include all the compulsory moves and you can include anything else that is shown at that level or below in BD tests.

The degree of difficulty is often upped by how you combine things.
For example in my medium freestyle the half pass canter goes into a 15m counter canter half circle folowed by medium canter in the counter canter, collect, counter canter round the corner then simple change. Each movement on its own has a degree of difficuly but combining them like that ups the difficulty.

One qualifying score and be placed 1st or 2nd in the class to qualify.
