We qualified for regionals yesterday but we know our music is not really suitable for our horse and we are going to video him and get a better programme done before next show. Can anyone recommend a website /company.There are some in dressage mag but one website is confusing one doesn't come up ,which leaves one which seems fine but has anyone any experience of good ones.MANY THANKS

The important question to ask when contacting any person who compiles routines is about their expertise in dressage.

There are some people out there advertising music compilation services who can produce a technically excellent CD - wonderfully linked music that sounds superb - but it simply doesn't work with the horse. Not just in that the tempo doesn't match the footfalls, but also that the music doesn't feel right for the pace concerned.

So, bearing in mind that the people who advertise in the back of British Dressage are just that - advertisers and not endorsed by BD - do ask questions. What is your expertise in dressage? Also, ask them for references from existing competitors.

Alternatively, go along to a music competition and, when you watch a routine that really works, collar the competitor afterwards and ask them who did their music. Personal recommendation is always the best way forward.

For a specific recommendation GG Jingles (Derek & Kirsty Bergmann - 01932 786160) have been compling routines from Riding Club to Grand Prix for many years - and don't cost the earth either.

Thank you I saw them in the mag but ,as you say it is hard to tell, one website is very tec. but not at all horsey.Wish I had asked Craig[who won yesterday] who he used.Thank you for the advice

We did ours ourselves, using pieces of music downloaded by us and then sped up/slowed down slightly to match the pace of the horse perfectly. I will find out what programme OH used for the mixing.

We got great marks and it loked very slick in comparison with some others!

We could have a crack for you if you want to send us video of your test?

I used mixmeister pro software when I attempted to do it. I took a video of Mr D working normally doing a few movements and worked out his BPM (beats per minute) and then used the computer programme to speed up or slow down the music enough to make it fit (roughly)
The programme is a little technical but not too bad.

Good luck

Contact Mike Matson who owns equimusic.com - he comes highly recommended & is used by some "big names"

Can also recommend Music in Motion who advertise in BD mag.

Have used her for 2 different horses. With one I already knew the music I wanted to use but it needed tweaking to fit the horse. She also edited the tracks to highlight the different movements ie halfpasses etc. With the other horse we just sent her the video of the horse and let her do all of it, choosing the music etc.

I believe she did the music for Sandy Phillips at the National Champs last year.
