So have been mulling over whether to try dressage to music and thought that it would maybe be a good idea to go and watch some before I take the plunge however I can't find anywhere in my area (Essex) running any. I only want Novice level (I just dream about getting higher than that one day

) but so far have drawn a blank. Please could anybody help in pointing me in the right direction?
Thanks.

Hmm dressagespain - I take your word for that, not sure my hairy Connemara can compete with the likes of Anky etc but I'd be willing to give it a try!

Seriously that is a good idea and I love watching them, gives me an excellent excuse now if my husband moans.

You can get some really good ideas/tips for mixing the music and how to enter, or even down to how to put the movements together.

I did it and won every single time on my equally hairy fat NF pony !!!!

Well done you - nice to hear the hairies are holding their own in the dressage field. Well I shall certainly go and watch some now, thank you!

Good luck!! I think its one of the most enjoyable classes I do.

But make sure you use a metronome to gauge the right beat for the music. I used a quirky jazz for one and the steptoe theme tune for another!!

The only one I know of that is coming up is next month at Patchetts which obviously isn't essex but not too far. Don't think anywhere in Essex does it, maybe HPF but haven't ever seen it there.

No, in the same boat as you really, would love to give it a go, trying to get my instructor to help me with it. Last time I went to Patchetts they had some on so I watched and to be honest it looked easier than I thought but still stuck with what music to use etc.

You sound exactly the same as me - my instructor isn't really interested. Maybe we should see if there are any clinics in the area and meet up and try it out! I seem to recall Bananaman runs clinics but someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

BD dressage to music is fairly few and far between. Normally each Ridign Club area has one in the summer, but otherwise it's just BD and not enough of them! I've done the Winter Semi's at BD Novice Music after somehow winning a qualifier at just under 70% on my extremely hairy and ever so slightly fat Welsh D. His music is the Flintstones - medley of different themes - suits him down to the ground!

There is one coming up at Towerlands but it is a bit too expensive for me. Last time I had a lesson with Roland Tong I mentioned I would like to give it a go and he said go and have a lesson with Anna Ross Davies and she will do it for you. Just found her website and she is based in North London/Herts (that is all it says) so not that far away.

Well that isn't too far away, I will have to look into this further as I'd love to give it a go, if I find anything else I'll let you know. Mind you I'm always embarressed at these places when I get my little Connemara off the lorry next to everyone elses warmbloods, would be nice to meet up with someone there.

You shouldn't be embarrassed, at least you are getting out there and giving it a go and you usually do pretty well don't you? If you find out more let me know and I'll meet you there for moral support!!

There is one in Essex - they sent me schedules last year......I just can't remember where! The secretary was really helpful as well, and gave me tips for preparing, although I didn't end up doing it.

Um, it was sort of Southend-y type way......or round that way......possibly Royal Wood RC?
