We took Ted (CVS Hot business, 4y/o stallion) and Merlin (MFSS Raubritter, 5 y/o stallion)
Ted was in first in his test which was the Novice freestyle to music. As most of you will know from our last report he only went to his first show a week or so ago, and that was a prelim. He has a bit of trouble with his balance in the canter trot canter transitions at the moment as hge is croup high after having a lil growth spurt!
Anyway.. he warmed up like a pro, no spooking and not batting an eyelid at the other horses hooling around. He went in and did a lovely test, better than we imagined he would (and tried really hard to do a big posh trot in the medium strides). We did get a bit behind, and then ahead of the music though!! (It was Merlins novice music from last year so didnt quite fit!
)
He finished 3rd with a very respectable score of 62.2% not bad for a bubba!!
Merlin was entered for the Elementary freestyle to music. He is fairly new at the level, but hes already qualified for the novice so we thought we'd give it a go.
He was a little monster to warm up and showed all the other competitiors how flexible he can be with his airs above ground and acrobatics!!
I managed to calm him down a little just before we had to go in, and i'm afraid to say, I had to do a bit of a cover up in the arena.
The music was fantastic and really suited him. And he did some fantastic leg yielding and simple changes. Somehow, we managed to come 2nd with 71.6%!! crazy! so he's qualified for that now.
Hopefully he will get over himsefl soon as my back was really sore after all of his antics!!!
