I am thinking of having a go at BD dressage to music (Prelim) but am not sure where to start. I have the test sheet but not sure where to start with the music!

Do not want to break the bank - has anyone put together their own music, if so how did you do it? or what companies/people are good and affordable??

Many thanks!

Not BD but I had a very rough stab using audacity for a yard fun show it's not the most straightforward but I really enjoyed it and can't wait to do it again. For any music I didn't have I used a YouTube to MP3 converter.

The transitions were a little bit off to the test but that's because I didn't have time to practice with my friend more than once so I was working to a bit of a guesstimate but it did and we came second of 4 by one mark!

Film your horse in all paces and use a metronome to work out the bpm. (I just use an app on my phone). Then you can pick a theme and find your walk, trot and canter music. Design a floor plan that suits your horse and then film it. Use audacity to fit the music to your video and then ride it 4 million times. You need to know it well enough to ad lib on the day. Different surfaces and the excitement of being at a new venue mean that you may have to add an odd circle somewhere. It's a lot of fun. Hope you enjoy it!

If you google linward sapphire sounds they have quite a lot of free guidance. I did my own with audacity which got good marks although now have a professionally done one.

I have done a few for Quadrille/pairs themed DTM using audacity. It takes a bit of getting used to but rewarding if it comes together well!

in the dark ages (late 60's) i had my horse videoed at walk trot and canter, then found some music which fitted all 3 and then put a cassette tape together myself,,,,,it worked and i really enjoyed it and it was cheap to do. technology has moved on somewhat so i am sure you could do it quite cheaply as well...its good fun

hi, how did you use a metronome, was there a specific app you used? Also did you use Audagram? If so did you buy the premium version?

I do it all myself and use audacity, it is easy once you get the hang of it. I am much to cheap to pay a company to do it. Just find 3 songs you really like and you think will suit your horse, download, edit and put them together. It must be OK as have had plenty good scores at Elementary and Medium. A couple of friends have go the local computer repair company to do theirs, there is usually someone around in these places well capable and don't cost a fortune. Once it is done, play it non stop in your vehicle or at home so you get so used to it that you know exactly when the music is going to change. It's great fun and I am sure you will enjoy it. Good luck!

I just used a free metronome app. You watch the video and adjust the metronome to match the footfall. That gives you a bpm. There are websites that list the bpm of different music so you can match up your 3 paces with music. To mix the music, I used audacity on my laptop. It was free to download. I've not used Audagram. The whole process is fiddly but it's easier than it sounds!
