What a cold, wet, miserable day to go out dressaging!
I phoned Golden Cross on the off chance they might have cancelled and given me my entry fee back, no such luck! Apparently it 'wasn't too bad' and people were warming up in the outdoor arena as normal.
So off we went, I lunged Axey for 20 mins first so I didn't have to warm up for long in the torrential rain there. He was very naughty in the warm up, refused to go down one end of the school because there were horses in the field

and wouldn't go down the other end because there were 'things' there!
So totally soaked to the skin went indoors for my first test P10, well Axey was very spooky indeed and wouldn't even go down 1 side of the arena, so cue quarters in and going sideways whenever we were that side. His canter wasn't too bad and we got good marks for our free walk. So got only 53.6%
Our next test was 1/2 hr later so I went into the warm up and rode him very positively

and had some lovely work eventually.
He was much nicer in the second test P18 and scored mostly 6's and 7's but he was very hard work to keep him concentrating on me and not on 'things' around the arena. Had one nasty spook when I came down to walk at C and randomly jumped across the school for no apparent reason

My score for that test was 61.6% so have qualified for 2nd round Trailblazers again

and was joint 6th out of 15

A lady was there videoing so will be able to see for myself soon what we looked like!
The judges comments on the first test were 'I feel that you perhaps are restricting him sometimes thru your aids, and try to keep him working longer and lower to get him supple and relaxed. A nice and promising horse'
I probably was restricting him, hard not to when your horse is convinced an Axey eating dragon is hiding behind things!
