Hi,

im new in all this dressage test ect

but i wondered how the trailblazers qualifiers work? how many rounds are usually in them and what other qualifiers are there at unaffi prelim level that i can go after?

cheers

You have to score 58%+ to qualify for 2nd rounds and pay a membership of I think £12 to get a card that then entitles you to enter 2nd rounds. To qualify for finals you have to be in the top 5 at a 2nd round. The finals are at Stonleigh in July. We qualified last year but B was lame for the finals so ended up being a very expensive experience! Entries and stabling for the champs were very pricy and all we could get back was 50% of the entry fee on production on vets cert and seeing as our vet charges for certs we would have actually lost more money that we got back! Not doing it again this year!

cheers for the quick reponse guys

if you miss the first rounds can you qualifie in the 2nd round if you score higher than the 58%?

reason im asking the 1st round is this weekend near me but i cant get to it but they have a 2nd round in 2 week time

also do you know of any other qualifiers you can chase in dressage apart from trailblazer one?

No, you have to qualify for 2nd rounds, you can't enter them directly. Some centres do hold qualifiers on the same day but where we went the 2nd rounds took place over 2 days and there were over 70+ in prelim (2 sections) so they didn't have time to run qualifiers alongside. You could register BD and aim for the petplan area festivals, we did that this year instead and are now qualified for prelims and half qualified for Novice (you have to score over 62% twice to qualify) Other than that some comp centres run their own championships, for example Addington run unaf champs, y ou have to be in the 1st 4 at one of their competitions to qualify. I also think there is a dressage champs run by Wales and West but never looked into this. Where abouts are you? In our area Chilterna nd Thames rider run a summer and winter champs each year, you have to be in the 1st 2 in a qualifier to aualify for finals. Good luck!

Thankyou jane-lou, youve been really helpful - much appreicated

im in the northwest, cheshire

im gonna have a year or so at doing unfil level before i join BD, so il keep a eye out on any qualifiers near me
i have heard of a prestige one in our area that start through the summer so i think il look into them

thanx again x

Prestige champs - finals are at Croft top in late autumn.

UK Riders is another good one to aim for - there are first round qualifiers at various places in the region and then regional finals in July - qualify for a national final at I think Arena Uk this year. All levels up to and including elementary and for truly unaffiliated combinations.

Aintree have a championship show and this year they are opening up qualifiers so that you don't need to go to Aintree to qualify. I believe they had some great prizes last year.

The festival association (or whatever the former Festival of Champions is now calling itself) - they have a spring show for which you don't need to qualify and an autumn show that you do need to qualify for.

Also maybe worth having a look at Croft and Cockshot - they have a points league table through the summer with a championship show in October - again with great prizes on offer (I won lessons with Jane Green one year) - again up to and including elementary with some talk of them running some mediums this year
