Dressage trainer in Surrey?

Hi

I was wondering if anyone could recommend to me a dressage trainer who come to me at my yard in Reigate, Surrey? I work full time, so can only do early mornings or weekends.

My current trainer can't come regularly and I really want to crack on as dressage seems to be our strength (jumping certainly isn't!). I think my gorgeous ginger pony has some serious moves in there! We've just started to compete Elementary and think we could move up to Medium fairly quickly, so long as I can learn to sit his trot.

I'd like someone who looks at biomechanics and focuses on me as much as on him. I'm not too sensitive but at the same time I don't fancy being shouted at for an hour.

Any suggestions most appreciated.

If you're interested on biomechanics and really want to get the basics right as well as do the fancy footwork, I cannot recommend Bertil Voss highly enough. He has competed at and trains pupils at Grand Prix, but is equally happy teaching someone at walk and trot stage on an Irish bog monster. He's incredibly helpful and patient, and teaches in such a way that you don't flounder when he's not there. I've never known him 'beast' a pupil. He trained with various people, from Reiner Klimke to Pammy Hutton. He's a BHSI and NVQ assessor if you like paper qualifications, but he's not 'BHS', if you know what I mean?

He's Kent based, but comes over to us in Surrey and then on to Sussex every couple of weeks, at the weekend. He tries to group his clients together and so I'm sure he'd be happy to fit a Reigate stop in too.

He doesn't advertise, or at least not that I've seen. I started training with him having watched him teach one of our livery clients, who is a dressage judge. Over time, my OH and some of our livery clients have followed suit.

I've heard good things about Debbie Moore. Andrew Gould sadly always comes during the week when I'm not around (and I always think he'll just think I'm a total numpty).

Paddy I'll pm you, as will be moving to Kent later this year so that might be the perfect solution.

Would recommend a "fit to ride" session with Jon Pitts as well as a kick off. He does really focus on improving your feel and riding and how you can improve yourself. I think you would find his sessions particularly useful if you are really looking to move up the dressage scales. You could always see if he would let you watch a lesson to see if it would help. Jon teaches at Littleton 2 days a month, normally over a weekend.
 
Thanks. I have had Jon Pitts sessions before but they don't work for me (don't think Jon would mind me saying that). Horses for courses I guess. ;)
 
May not be quite what you're looking for as you wanted some one to come to you but if you can travel i'd strongly recommend Simon Battram. He, for me, has been a wonderful help for me and my horse. He will look into how the horse works, finds strengths and weaknesses and aims to fix them. He tells you exactly what is happening (so the mechanics) with the horse through the moves and exercises he suggests.
He teaches all levels and seems happy with the progress made from someone with a plod along cob to someone doing PSG.

He teaches in Cobham Surrey usually every other weekend.
