Dressage Training DVD's

Sorry probes sounded snottier than was meant! Is just so difficult to get a real understanding from a DVD :)

Haha no it didn't. I'm wanting dvd's from scratch basically...never been a big dressage fan until recently, always showjumped/xc/hunted. Since getting older and having a baby my nerves aren't what they once were for jumping lol

I have 2 youngsters one who I'm backing in spring the other is only a yearling so a few years to wait for him. I'd love some good quality lessons with a dressage instructor but to be honest it's out of my budget atm, and I don't see the point in wasting cash on a sub standard instructor. I have a good understanding of flat work, but not dressage...that's a whole new ball game for me.

I've been looking at Karl Phillipe & Anja Beran series...from the short clips I've seen, I found them to be informative :)

I have watched Phillipe Karl's DVDs (my instructor/friend has them) but don't think they would perhaps be detailed enough to work from? Good for giving you an idea of what you are aiming for & to see things actually in motion, but I think it would be hard to replicate just from those. I would like to watch them again though as they were interesting :) I also have one of his books which is very good, although takes me some time to figure it out sometimes :o

Go to www.horsehero.com

You pay a subscription (£20 every six months) hours of videos from people like Laura B, Hannah Biggs, Anna R/D, Pammy Hutton, Michael and Maria E, to Jason Webb on problems like spooking, (showjumping and XC vids, too) lunge videos loads of stuff, better than spending £20 for one hour video... Plus you can leave comments /ask questions.

Why don't you go along to a few clinics in your area and pick up some ideas from there initially. If you go on the BD website you should find out who is teaching where. This is cheaper than signing up for a lesson with someone who/your horse won't click with and means you can check out the facilities too.

Some people like Sylvia Loch DVDs and they are broken up into the different paces so this could be a good place to start.
