By summer I'm going to have my very own transport and so am trying to excitedly plan my horse's BD debut, but I don't know of any dressage venues in my area!

Horse is in Didcot, South Oxfordshire so am looking for good dressage venues that aren't too far from there - any recommendations? I'm particularly after venues that do weekend shows as I work full time and don't have that much holiday I can take.

I know of:

Oxon - Checkedon (Blewbury for Unaff stuff)
Glos - Abbey Dressage
Bucks - Addington and Bury Farm
Beds - Keysoe
Northants - Moulton College (use to compete there regularly when I lived nearby)
Warks - Weston Lawns

I don't know the counties South of Oxfordshire very well at all so really need suggestions for that part of the country! Ideally looking for BD/trailblazers classes but would consider a nice unaff venue too.

I don't *really* want to drive too far (I currently live an hour north of my horse - long story - so I'll already have to drive for an hour before I even get to my yard, so looking at places less than 1.5hrs max away). Thanks :)

You would have pretty easy access (straight down A34) to East Soley (near Newbury) and Sparsholt (Winchester).
Fairoak grange (Kingsclere)
Patchetts (Watford) looks quite a distance on paper but is actually quite a good trip.
Berkshire college of Agriculture (Maidenhead) do the odd one
Aston-le-Walls (Northants) would be in range
Widmer (Bucks)

hello from south bucks ;) have you talked to south oxfordshire riding club? they seem to hold a lot of (unaff) events, but lots of them i thin compet BD as well - iirc they had a very strong team at the winter quals this year :)

as for venues, theres windmill in south bucks, and classic dressage in chesham.

Thanks so mucuh guys - I'll look into all of them!

I haven't no as tbh I hadn't heard of them - my local riding club is the Berks RC as they're always hiring the facilities at my yard so I presumed they were my local club! I'll look into them too.

depends how far you are willing to travel but there is;
warkwickshire college, moreton morrell - holds BD, unaffil dress but no trailblazers
hunters, Gloucs - BD not sure if they do unaffil

both have indoor and outdoor arenas that are used for there events as well:)
