For those of you who remeber my post about 6 weeks ago about our making the judges cry with laughter and cantering out of the arena....Our latest test.......

Had to have 4 weeks off with bad back (me) & lameness(her). So been back in work a couple of weeks. Fat hairy coblet and I decided to have another go.

Started with walk and trot test (cunning plan I thought). Warmed up fine, got into arena up to A end of school, turned to enter up the centre line.....Lept and cantered sideways towards exit, the baggage. Managed to pull her up in line with B, but had not entered the arena yet!!! Gave her a swift pony club kick and took hold of the front end (not pretty but I was going into that arena. Got through the whole test a bit tense and strong at times (but lovley free walk on long rein ~ how does that work??), but we completed and got a 65% (nearly fell off at that) and half way up the class.

Warmed up for prelim 4, bit nervous about cantering, but she was nice in warm up AND we got right lead canter (YAY).

Into school for test, decided to enter arena from other side (another cunning plan) and she started being nappy ~ but couple of pony club kicks later and again a stronger hold than I would have liked. She was still arguing for the first couple of moves and the centre line was appalling, but we started a nice canter....turned into flat out down the long side towards the exit. Good job we had a 20m circle (OK so I had 2 hands on the inside rein and we started the circle a little early) but then she settled and we finished the move quite well. She gave up with trying to p*ss off with me and I was pleased with finish. Judge must have wondered what was going on when OH and sister were on the sidelines cheering and I did a Henman fistpump and huge YES on the way out of the arena.
Low 50s score and bottom of the class.. BUT a HUGE smile on my face today.

Is it really pathetic to be SO pleased about staying in the arena??

Congratulations, I was pleased we didn't cannon into the line up at our last class!

Meant to say.... YES you should be thrilled.... sorry got over excited but I hope you know what I mean !! X

I think it's flaming brilliant kiddo! PMSL! Well done you! Aren't fat hairy coblets the living end? I'm lucky that (so far!) all mine can be bothered to do is kick her bum up in the air 6 inches and pretend it's a dangerous bucking fit! She can nap for Britain and when she doesn't want to work in the school (ie all the time) she gets a look on her face like the proverbial pit bull that has swallowed a wasp! You got a pic of your FHC? x

Thanks peeps, you have made me feel better.

I just started to wonder if I wasn't a bit pathetic when I went back to the yard and got some strange looks because I was SOO pleased.

It just that it has been really hard work to get this far. She is not really nasty, (in fact a real sweetie and very very gentle) just a typical mare who can't be told and gets a bit worried sometimes. Hoping a few more times out and we will have it cracked, same as we did for the jumping. About 3rd time out something just "clicked" and she figured out jumping at a show was no different to jumping at home. We think she gets stage fright.!!

I will get some pics on, just need some time and to get to grips with technology (i.e. turning video into stills).

Thanks

Well done, thats fantastic! Your post really made me smile (which takes a lot on a Monday morning!)

Box_of_frogs - I love your description of your horse looking like a Pitbull who has swallowed a wasp - priceless!!

Well done, take it all one step and a time...besides I'll be doing the same with Mackenzie next week....we might not even get in the ring to actually acheive any marks but we will have go...and laugh it off if not
