Hi All

I may have to move to Dublin and I'm wondering if anyone can advise me on any yards close to Dublin with good dressage facilities? I'm quite picky so am looking for a private yard (absolutely no riding schools) and something that is relatively small, with good facilities and dressage trainers nearby.

Any suggestions very welcome.

Thanks!
Victoria

we used to get lessons at http://kateandmaureendwyer.com/ and would highly recommend it. Its a bit of a drive from dublin, but if you wanted to seriously get into dressage it would be a good yard.

There's a few nice smaller yards around but you would probably have to get the dressage instructor in. Whereabouts in dublin are you based? Im at a dressage yard but it would only suit south dublin

Well I haven't moved over yet but I have family based in south Dublin. I used to ride at Brook Lodge years ago but it's not what I'm looking for. He's at advanced level now so good instructors are a must so we can keep up the training. Oh someone else has mentioned that yard so I've already emailed them....good to know there are more people that would recommend it. At the moment I drive an hour to my yard and would probably live somewhere close to the yard so the yard location is more important to me.,

If you do have any further thoughts please do message me, thank you so much!

Spruce lodge in red cross Wicklow could be worth looking at too. I know Conrad Schumacher used to teach there but I dunno if it still does.

ETA they have a website too http://www.sprucelodge.ie
I've only been there once but it was a fab yard with great facilities from what I saw

I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the upsurge in dressage in Ireland. Especially in the East. New venues are coming online all the time and last show held in Kildare had 150+ entries from Prelim to GP.
We are still 10 years behind the UK I would say but it is certainly on the up and 10 years ago no one would have believed that the UK would be no.1 in the world so there is hope yet :)
We have mixed disciplines in our yard but dressage is right up there both at affiliated and RC level. A couple working at elementary moving to Medium. Our regular weekly coach competes at PSG and Heike comes every 2 weeks to the yard and 80% of the yard train with her regardless as to their preferred discipline. Dressage is getting very popular :)
In terms of training rider AND Horse to GP the Holsteins would definitely have the most experience at that level.
Ferdi also comes to Ireland regularly to train the higher level riders.
If you need any further info just pm.
