We have a horse with a major open chest wound on re hab-she needs some sort of sling to keep a dressing in place.Anyone any ideas or previous experience. Almost an anti rub vest but wider between the legs to hold/support a dresing.
is the wound open or stitched, dont think there is anything you could adapt to be a sling for the area and also if it was put under neath a hoodie or vest it would possibly move and rub, if it were mine i would leave it open making sure it had all the necessary creams and tetcin sprays on and if its that bad it should be on antibiotics anyway which would help treat anything extra it might pick up whilst laying down, if it is very deep vet might put in a kloroxate tube for draining dont want it to heal outside but still has gunk inside which could get nasty another reason for antibiotics. good luck
Could you tape it in place and then put a fleece rug on to hold it?
Could you use a surcingle or tail bandage around her body where a surcingle would go, then make a racing type breast plate that would hold it in place?
Could you slice a human sweatshirt open and fasten the arms from one half around the neck and the other half under her legs onto a surcingle?
