Lucy is dressed up mainly to keep her warm in the winter(she's a tiny little skinny thing!), but in doing that she has to look good! Pink all the way!!
Oh, and when she's not been clipped, she matts easily (comes to the farm every day), so coats help to keep her tangle-free.
Her Tinkerbell raincoat!
And just because they looked so cute in the shop (and were cheap!), i had to buy them! She HATES it though! Refuses to walk and when she does, it's like a horse in travel boots!!
I'm not cruel, i promise! I'm just easily bought over by the cute little doggy clothes!!!
Poppy our JRT has 2 coats, a fleece one and a waterproof one. She does seem to feel the cold, I don't know if this is typical of the breed or not.
In saying that, I have two friends who dress their terriers in clothes ie a jacket with a fur collar or a halloween costume. I wouldn't do it myself, but don't see any harm particuularly in it. One of them is expecting her first baby soon, and I'm sure she won't have time for dressing up dogs after that!!!

My JRT have two coats too One is lapel fleece and another is Danish rain coat. He does feel the cold especially when stopped running about at the yard.
A coat/jumper is pretty much essential for Stella, if she's going to be out for extended periods. I tend to favour slick and well-made, such as her new down coat (black for brighter days, day-glo orange for evenings
).
That being said, Stella has appeared as Batgirl in the interests of fundraising for our local shelter
Hehehe Stella looks adorable in her batgirl costume!!
I think that on the grand scheme of things, dressing your dog up is right, after all in a lot of ways it shows extra care being given which can only be a good thing - right? BUT in some ways I worry that the little dresses hoodies etc do promote seeing the dog as little more than a living doll - and maybe this enccourages the wrong type of people to get dogs for the wrong reasons.
My JRT puppy is cold when we take him out, so I tried making a sock jumper...he hated it, suffice to say i dont think he'll be one for wearing clothes, even if it IS for comfort!!!
Beastie wears a coat if she has just been clipped and is only walking. If she's going out for a real blast with the labs she doesn't wear one as she runs about so much she doesn't need it. She owns two coats. One pink one (for cold, but not wet) and a waxed jacket for cold and wet.

I did that last winter when Boris was tiny that none of coats on the market is suitable (too dressy imo) that fitted him. BLess him my mum also knitted out a tiny jumper which he later destroyed!
seriously how could you put this cutey out naked to freeze !! he always has a t shirt on, then a jumper and if its cold a sheepskin jacket / bomber jacket or similar
i voted right if only and then for comfort, although i dress Ben up, he has a santa outfit which he has worn twice? since i got it and other than that he has a fleece coat, a thermatex rug and a weatherbeeta coat to keep him warm.
we are currently in the process of measuring him for a proper greyhound coat (i know he's a lurcher but
) which covers his whole neck and all under his chest, poor boy doesnt half feel the cold. he is also getting a PJ outfit for when it is cold, not for a fashion accessory.
Right if it's fun(fancy dress class/christmas ect) or for comfort(some dogs really feel the cold, sure Stella is very gratefull to er mum for those booties when it snows!) but not to look cute
ETS-also right if weather is crap, love the dog coats that look like mini horse rugs
Much better to pop rug thing on then spend an hour cleaning and drying off wet, muddy dane!!!
Right but only for warmth, and a big fat NO for this reason .............

I saw one of those 'My dog's even more mental than me, can you fix us' programmes where this moronic woman was dressing up an unfortunate JRT top to toe and the poor thing was just standing with his head down while she laughed. Her excuse was 'I know he hates it but it makes me laugh'
I voted right but only if...for comfort.
Sasha has a waterproof one to keep her dry and clean when at the stables because i don't really want to bath her too much.
She also has a jumper/coat to keep her warm in the minuses.
My mum did buy a little t-shirt for her with Santa's little helper on, but that was just a little fun at Christmas, to show the family.
Sorry - i thought i was about to get pounced on and for a big debate to start!
This is how she's normally dressed - mini Masta horse rug, with another top underneath to cover her belly. Excuse her face - i'd interruped her playing with her friend!
Barnes has two coats - but unfortunately only the chavvy one is small enough for him to be comfortable - so he goes to the yard dressed like this....
As long as he's comfortable and happy I'd let him wear anything for fun but if it upset him, made him uncomfortable in any way then I wouldn't do it.
He did have a hat and scarf to wear to my parents house on Xmas day and it didn't bother him at all!
