Drinking a lot/playing in her water

My mare has had a few problems with loose droppings which is now under control thanks to my wonderful vet! My only problem now is that she drinks a lot. I thought this was because she was losing a lot but her droppings are normal now and she's still drinking! She probably goes to her trough at least once an hour in the field but in the stable she is constantly dipping her nose in her trug. She also dunks her hay and eats it out of the water, causing a lot of mess! Just strikes me a quite wierd, any ideas on why? I'm calling the vet later anyway so will discuss it with him, just bored at work and wondering!!

I dont know why some horses dunk their hay, maybe you could try soaking it for her instead? I was told to move my horses hay further away from her water when she started doing it. I think it was just that she liked to play with it and if the hay is moved further away they can't be botherd to move as far to dunk it, if you get me.
