mine does the same, is fed the feed dry and then drinks after, other trick is to put water in the food before feeding, making it all slopping and runny !!!!!

Mine will drink a full bucket after eating her food, and will have at least a mouthful after having anything (inc. carrots, polos etc.). That's the way she likes it!

Mine always has a big drink straight after he has eaten his dinner. He has always done this, and it's had no ill effects at all. Don't worry!

Hi
This worry about drinking after eating stems from the BHS who used to think that the water would wash the food from the stomach into the intestines before it was ready.
But now they know that the water just goes over the top of the food so it doesn't matter at all!
Don't worry

i crew for my sister who competes in endurance riding and all the horses are fed sloppy feeds and are watered on the go, it is now believed to be better for the horses to be offered water adlib ( as to say) than refrained

All of mine do it. They all line up at the drinker pretty much as soon as they have licked their bowls clean and they all swill out there mouths - it's perfectly normal LOL!

Mine Will glug down water after a feed, but at the moment there's so much food that they get about a carrot each for breakfast and dinner!
Don't worry about it as above you can see most horses do it!
