Drivers in the snow and ice

Mmmmm...as I was cycling along on Thursday am, came a cropper on a patch of ice, and bike and I went over. As I was getting up, there was persistent beeping from behind - some bloke felt I was holding him up and would I get out of his way NOW!

In the 4 miles I drive to the yard I have seen 4 accidents and a near miss, and so many idiots, ones bloke tried to overtake on a sharp bend and went sideways.

I go really slow on that bed having skidded twice at 20mph but people keep getting annoyed and coming up so close to my bumper. If only they knew

Annoying thing is, they do have accidents or cause them and they write our vehicles off for us in the process if we are unlucky!

I drove over to OH's today and stuck to 40 even though the roads weren't too icey. I had people over taking at at least 70! Only a few hours before they had been pretty icey.

I'm having the opposite problem - people not realising that you need a run up to get up the hills! So they trundle along at 10mph, get stuck and start sliding back down, forcing everyone behind them to reverse back down too. Get in a high gear and get your bloody foot down, and if you're too scared/don't understand how to drive on snow, DON'T GO OUT!

Feel better for that.

Glad it's not just me that is absolutely gobsmacked at some of the drivers around, I've got a 4x4 but still taking it steady, don't want to test out it's skidding ability unless I really really have to!

yup.... today..... old man, in a merc, on a roundabout with a lot of snow and ice on the edge

on his mobile phone, clamped to his ear and one hand on the wheel!!

Yes, I have seen far to many twats driving round her, one guy was coming right round the roundabout on his bloody phone, no indicators!! If they want to hurt themselves then fine, but the fact they put the rest of us at risk really gets me angry.
I think they think that because they have not had an accident yet they are bloody invincible, idiots!! Drives me nuts!

Yes, maybe get a run at a hill, that's fine if it's clear of vehicles I have had to do that in old 2 wheel drive cars years ago to get home but when it's on the flat and very icy people speeding beyond not only the vehicles capabilities but also theirs it is stupid!

Totally agree with what someone said about driving to the conditions and the vehicle you're in - I can't go as fast as someone in a 4x4 when I'm in a Micra, you'd think people would take that into account, but no they're practically on the back seat

I don't even pull in for them anymore, I just stop! I'm not about to get stuck at the roadside for their sake, they can go around me!

Was really scared Friday night, snow had fallen on top of ice, it was -7 so freezing solid and there was thick freezing fog so you couldn't see a thing more than about 6ft ahead, and there were deep ditches either side of the road... yet people were still climbing into the boot
