I had noticed - and then booked my test in quick before they removed it lol.
Think re hiring 3.5t lorries they won't let you until you've held your license for a certain amount of time though.

I would be overjoyed if they changed it back as I missed qualifying under the old rules by turning 17 one month after it changed  I don't like 3.5 tonne horseboxes for a variety of reasons so have been using a trailer (yes, I had to pay for the test unfortunately as they've now scrapped it). I was planning on HGV training and testing but seems no point until I can afford a lorry so was putting it off for a bit. If I no longer had to take another test then it would be more towards the lorry!

I would love to speak to some of these ill informed reporters and tell them why people won't drive.
I have up trucking for a while and went back to it four years ago.
I've had three employers.
They will say anything they want you to hear to get you through the door.
The first thing is that health and safety stops outside the gates of nearly every depot. I've been to places that made you drive out of their depot to get on top and check or secure a load. The firm you drive for tells you under no circumstances are you to get on top of a trailer or load. The firm you are collecting from has no safety system in place to allow you to safely secure or check your load. (They are god..you can't put your foot down with them in case it threatens the contract) they lock their safety equipment away so you don't fall off it and sue them. You have to drive off site and do it somewhere else or you get points for an insecure load.
RHA members berate the government, it's their fault because of Brexit and because there aren't good roadside facilities. It would be great to show some of the facilities the RHA provide their own drivers. Particularly the company I last worked for. The owner mentioned Dubai about 10 times in the interview (he was going , he had been , when he went, what he saw) but he couldn't provide a rat free toilet and shower for his driver's.
The job I've just left I kept getting called in for bollockings. Apparently I wasn't pulling my weight. I had worked 68 hours one week and 71 the next.
I actually sat opposite yet another failed driver transport manager and listened to the dinosaur tell me that getting back home at lunch time Saturday and out again Monday at 4 in the morning gave me enough time to have a home life .
They could give an c ,+ e licence away in cornflake boxes and they still wouldn't have enough drivers.
It's just like any other industry these days all front for the internet and shitting on the ones doing the hard work in real life.
Sorry for the rant,
Feeling better already.
