Maybe a silly question, I don't know. My youngster will make 16.2, maybe more, and there don't seem to be many vehicles around for big horses. I used to have a Bennington two wheeler for a pony, and would definitely like another. Can they be adjusted significantly? I'm looking second hand, so if I found one for say 14-15hh, could it be altered that much?

There is a little bit of room, but nothing as much as you'd need - if you got something that'd fit a 14-15 & ended up with 16.3/17hh of horse, you're not going to be a happy bunny.

Yes you could make it fit, but it wouldnt be safe or correct because your shafts would be too low at the back, traces too low (as a result of swingletree "lower") & your view would likely be restricted too.

If you want to stay with Bennington, something like an XL would work.

My big lad is17h and I have a 4 wheel excesise carriage it's a rene schoop one. His web site has lots of them, the shafts on these type are quite adjustable

Rene's stuff is great :)

I think the important thing to bear in mind that, if the shafts or traces are so low that the horse risks "getting its leg over" (oh er missus!!) then its too small.

All of my driving horses have been over 16.1 I have a hartland prosport you definatly need to make sure the carriage is big enough .
