Just went with my friend last weekend to pick up her new horse (who is gorgeous!) from Farley Equestrian in Reading.

If any users have their horses there I. AM. JEALOUS.

I would happily live there...never mind my horse, haha.

I know, it is quite expensive but there is so much included in that. Including feed, bedding, hay, horsewalker every day so I think I would end up paying about that every month anyway once I added it all up. Seems perfect for people who don't arrive at the yard until quite late (like me, riding by moonlight!)

If only I lived closer....I wonder if it's practical to relocate for the sake of a nice yard...probably not! haha

It looks lovely, but wow that is expensive....its more than what i pay on the rent on my smallholding! Think id be expecting accommodation for myself as well at that price lol!

The only thing I would say about yards is that no matter how nice it is, the staff and other liveries are really important as well. If you don't get on with them and trust them lovely facilities are useless. Also decent hacking is important.

Very tidy. Very expensive, but probably worth it if you are after full livery with bells on, it is the sort of place my brother would keep his horses.

The first thing that I thought of when I looked at the gallery of the yard was "I hope there is a ramp up to that square in the centre" otherwise I pity the poor beggar who has to get up there to cut the grass (presuming it is grass and not astroturf - thought I spied a sprinkler though)

would be nice to have a cottage where your horse is ,but to be honest think I would be bored after a week and severely aggravated by people who could not be bothered tacking up or grooming their own horse.

My horse has been groomed, tacked up and ridden for me the last fortnight and it's been a bloody godsend while I've been injured. I will often ask for tack up when I'm short of time, but they tease me because I'll often spend an hour grooming her when I do because I like it.

The reason I have this sort of livery is that my health is not always up to looking after a horse or even riding and OH gets sent away in business a lot So it's the only way I can have a horse of my own. But I would prefer to do things myself.

The schooling part of the livery has enabled me to have my dream horse and know that she is being progressed correctly.

Don't pay as much as that livery - but in cheaper area. We're not rich, but 25 years ago I started saving £50 a month and it's subsidising this now.

I don't spend that much on the mortgage!! I can't believe you don't get a full groom for the £800 livery. All in all it was very footballers wives - who basically want a riding school but also to be able to say that they have their own horse! Beautiful yard, but not my cup of tea. Does make me think about doing livery again though at those prices!!

As much as i love my neddies, why on earth would anyone pay that!!? x No indoor school, not alot for your money other than it looks pretty! x I used to pay £340 a month part livery and thought that was a skank! Was limited to 15kg of hay a day, indoor schools were always used for lessons, they had a solarium which you werent allowed to use even though its what you pay for?! x They wanted £1.50 each time to bring her in or put her out too, they conveniently allocated her the 10am - 2pm field slot - knowing i was at work and wouldnt be able to do either time!! x She's a happier horse since being on DIY for £110 a month with unlimited hay and straw, 24/7 turnout and less people messing about with her! Have less showjumps but 100's of acres and 3 xc courses, where i had no hacking or xc course before!

Money doesnt buy happiness!! x

I'll let my horse know that my extensive services and her DIY livery are the equivalent to £900 of full livery. I'll knock off a tenner a month for not having a horse walker but I suspect she prefers the field anyway.

For that amount I would want an indoor school and a canter track (Allweather gallops etc) also hot wash room with a solarium.

Although around that area full livery with little facilities can fetch £500pcm. A commuter belt with expensive houses and rich people.

My daughter knows someone that keeps her pony there. Her parents, being totally non horsey like it, as it makes their life easy and the staff are very nice. They have plans passed for an indoor school, the hacking on the estate is amazing, and you have Bramshill just around the corner, they run regular clincs with good instructors. I think the only downside if any (other than cost) is it's a touch off the beaten track for easy access to some things.

It's a beautiful yard and looks very professional!

I'm moving my horse in the next few weeks to a yard of similar standard plus a indoor arena and all weather surface hacking track. And that cost's £281 a month, so for £900 I'd want a heck of a lot more!

A yard near me charges £500 for ? full livery and they get some turn out ,normal stables , outdoor school and the yard manager does not live on the yard no extras The yard is also on a very busy business area.

I would want to be more active with my horses and have the option on certain thing, but then again I don't need all the facilities thet have.

Will they charge far more for the use of the indoor school ,will the fees go up to say £1,000 a month.

Gorgeous.. BUT considerably more than my DIY livery costs me for a whole year!

I wouldn't want a horse if I had to keep it full livery but I can quite understand why some people need to.. still an awful lot of money though.

crikey!! how much?!! I was paying that sort of money per month to have my horse evented by a pro and that was including his livery, entries, diesel, etc. That is huge money when the horse isnt even been ridden. Down the side of the website there is a testimonial from a police officer who keeps 2 horses there- jeez i need a change of career because I couldnt justify spending 1800 pounds a month on livery! thats the mortgage on a million pound house!

I'm a member of the riding club which uses Farley Hall as its base so go there regularly for clinics. It is fabulous and I have yard envy every time I'm there though it is far too expensive for me (and wrong location). The indoor school is due to be started soon I think, there is a hot wash and solarium (at least one?) and all the people I know from there are really lovely (including the people who work there), they work very hard and pay not only for the facilities but the knowledge that the horses receive the best of care when they can't be up there - their choice to spend that sort of money for a bit of luxury and peace of mind.
