Drop noseband fitting - does this look right?

Put George's drop noseband on, but had a bit of trouble fitting it with the 3-ring gag so I've probably done it all wrong

could you have a look please and comment:

It looks a bit high to me and should be approx 4 fingers width from the nostrils.

Looks as though it is coming across the bit in the second photo - I haven't seen a drop noseband with a gag before but i'd be concerned about pinching his lips, and it needs to be lower. Why do you prefer this to a flash, as a matter of interest?

yeh go for one hole lower and id put bit rings on to stop things pinching, especially with where the drop sits with a loose ring bit.

I was so worried about fitting it too low that I've gone the other way! That's probably why it doesn't sit quite right with the bit.

Cavalo, he needs something to stop him going round with his mouth open and tongue stuck out, but he really objected to having his flash strap done up (have had his teeth checked) and quite a few people on here seem to be doing well with drops.

Just being curious! for what reason do you need to use a drop nose band AND a gag on George!!!

Agree, one hole lower.
Watch your drop for metal spikes appearing on the side rings...they are there originally to hold the leather in place...but always seem to sneak out...

It could be to stop him opening his jaw and the gag for elevation/less bit action to stop?

I use a drop and a hanging cheek french link as I like mine to be able to stop when I say, not when he wants, and he finds poll pressure more agreeable than mouth pressure.

George is probably the same?

I am a great believer in schooling out the evasions and more often than not they require softer bits rather than a more severe one once the evasion has been sorted old horse or young.
