what about horses that seem to have an issue with carrying their heads? she can do it... but its getting awful so i want to try something different... currently in a flash
Then a drop noseband wont be removing the cause, it just treats the symptom. You need to work out why she does that- shaking the head constantly and lifting the head very high is a reaction to something, it is not normal behaviour for a comfortable, happy horse.
Are you 100% sure her bit suits her mouth conformation? Is her saddle a perfect fit? Could the rider be causing the problem?
Shaking the head is Star's latest trick..... she does it when she's cross and can't get her own way by getting me to give the contact.
If your horse is like that, just sit tight, keep your leg on and believe in yourself. Keep the contact elastic but don't give it away. Play the reins to get her to relax her jaw and soften... Keep her moving forward in lots of circles, transitions, changes of rein, lateral work, keep her busy and listening.
Bet you've heard all this before haven't you?
It's the doing of it.... I know how you feel.
