Drop nosebands

Why are these nosebands out of fashion and things like the grackle are??

I have just changed Sambas nose band from a grackle to a drop and oh my god the difference, she really stretched out tonight and was so much more relaxed. Obviously a lot more comfortable, never used one before so was a bit anxious but am so please with the result. I was worried that I wouldnt get the height right but used my trusty old pony club book as a guide.

Pointless post really, but very happy with her.

They are very useful nosebands but sadly very difficult to come by.

Agree have just changed 2 of ours to drops, and what a difference, now trying to find an extra full in black for another horse, talk about needle in a hay stack

Shires do them, I bought one from barnstormers a month or so ago

Whenever you read old pony books the lucky rider wins a saddle and bridle, the saddle is always a forward cut jumping saddle and the bridle always has a drop noseband. Much better than the unhappy compromise of a flash!
