Anyone else's horses dropped weight recently?

Am a little concerned about Rudy. He has lost muscle, mainly due to no work, but he has noticeably lost weight in the past 2-3 weeks.
I haven't been rugging him and he was out 24/7 until last week. Gets no hard feed, and ad lib hay. Do you think this is just the time of year or is this something I should be more concerned about?

Thanks

Don't know about where you are, but the grass has gone off a bit up here - my lad dropped a bit of weight, so i've started rugging and giving beet - he has hard feed all year yound for various reasons....perhaps if you rug him and give him a feed or 2 he should pick up....does he need worming? Wouldn't ring the vet just yet , try the usual first and see how he goes.

Mine is too dropping weight (in a good way though as she's a podge) but this is even with me relaxing on the weightloss front. She's also lost weight despite more grass which isn't like her plus the fact she's been out of work too!

Think it might be the time of the year, if your worried you could always talk to your vet.

My Tb(so super silly about weather and cold etc) dropped a bit of weight about 3/4 weeks ago around beg of Aug, he is now rugged and on hard feed, the weather has turned if you ask me!!!! I'd say its weather, it was a rather drastic turnabout to crap weather all cold and windy so I think its just using more energy to keep warm!

My Welsh Cob (your typical good do-er) has dropped weight dramatically over the past month and is now on ad-lib hay in the field and two oat feeds a day. I think it's just a year of poor grass growth and the recent dramatic weather all coming together at once this month, it's just a bit early this time round.

yes, my TB too has lost weight. he is recovering from a virus(hopefully) so has been off work for a while. he has lost muscletone and just looks a bit slim. going to increase his workload (under vets orders!) and his feed and just keep an eye on things.

Mine is very slim now, but have upped feed a little and introducing haylage rather than hay. Also verquite generous with the old rugging! Little fatty one could do with dropping off a bit tho!!!
